CROSS BORDER TUNNELS WITH GAZA GOT DESTROYED BY EGYPTIAN ARMY… The Egyptian army has destroyed three cross-border tunnels linking Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula to the blockaded Gaza Strip, a military spokesman said.. Army Colonel Tamer al-Rifai said the army had demolished three tunnels found under Egypt’s border with the Hamas-run coastal enclave. Due to a decade-long blockade imposed by both Israel and Egypt, the Gaza Strip’s roughly 2 million inhabitants have come to rely on a sophisticated network of cross-border tunnels to import basic commodities, including food, fuel and medicine. Ever since Egypt’s 2013 military coup against the country’s first freely elected president, the Egyptian authorities have cracked down hard on the cross-border tunnel network. In 2014, Egypt set up a “buffer zone ” along its border with the Gaza Strip following a spate of militant attacks on Egyptian security forces deployed in the Sinai Peninsula. One year later, the Egyptian army began

AN ARREST WARRANT HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR ROSE MCGOWAN, US.ACTRESS… An arrest warrant has been issued in the US for the actress Rose McGowan for possession of a controlled substance. It follows an investigation into belongings left on a United Airlines flight from LA to Washington Dulles airport in January.     The belongings reportedly belonged to McGowan and had traces of a controlled substance. Washington police obtained the warrant on 1 February, spokesman Rob Yingling said. The authorities say they have been trying to contact McGowan so she can appear in court in Virginia. McGowan, 44, is among the most prominent accusers of Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood mogul facing multiple allegations of sexual assault and harassment. Ms McGowan hit out at the arrest warrant, asking "Are they trying to silence me?" McGowan has accused Weinstein of raping her at the Sundance Film Festival in 1997. Among the reportedly stolen information was roughly 60 classified documents describing weapons systems and test data for submarines and destroyers.     Mr Kyung said : "We are almost 100% certain that North Korean hackers were behind the hacking and stole the company's sensitive documents." FOLLOWING NUCLEAR TEST, NORTH KOREA TUNNEL COLLAPSE LEAVING MORE THAN 200 WORKERS DEAD… Over 100 workers were affected by the initial collapse at the Punggye-ri site on 10 September following the country's sixth nuclear test, TV Asahi reported, citing unnamed North Korean sources.     Over 100 more are likely to have died as further collapses occurred during a  rescue operation, the broadcaster said. There has been no independent confirmation of the report. Experts said the sixth blast, on 3 September, would have destabilized the region. It was reported two weeks ago that  the area surrounding the Punggye-ri nuclear test site , in the country's north west, was suffering from "Tired Mountain Syndrome" as a result of the underground blasts.     The geological condition occurs when underground nuclear blasts cause the surrounding rock to become weak and permeable. The 3 September test caused the USGS to register a tremor of magnitude 6.3, with a smaller, se

FOUR CHILDREN KILLED IN GOVERNMENT SHELLING, SAYS SYRIA ACTIVISTS….   Syrian activists say at least four children have been killed when government shelling hit their school in a rebel-held town outside the capital Damascus.     The Ghouta Media Center and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights say a shell landed Tuesday at the gate of a school in Jisreen, a town in the Eastern Ghouta suburbs of Damascus. The shelling killed five, including four children, and left many injured.     Residents of the Eastern Ghouta suburbs have been living under a suffocating government blockade amid intense bombings. UN Official says over 13 million people needs aid in Syria More than 13 million people inside Syria still need humanitarian assistance and nearly half are in “acute need” as a result of having fled their homes, of hostilities, and of limited access to food, health care and other basic needs, the U.N. humanitarian chief said Monday. Mark Lowcock told the Security Council the number of Syrians who have been displaced within the country for a long time has dropped from 6.3 million to 6.1 million. But he said “levels of new displacement remain high,” with 1.8 million people reportedly forced to leave between January and September. Since just the offensive began in November 2016 that ousted the Islamic State extremist group from the city of Raqqa, its self-proclaimed capital, airstrikes and clashes resulted in over 436,000 people being displaced to 60 different locations, Lowcock said, speaking via video conference from Amman, Jordan. 3 Largest Opposition Parties in Venezuela to shun local polls

3 Largest Opposition Parties in Venezuela to shun local polls Three of Venezuela’s largest opposition parties vowed on Monday to boycott mayoral polls later this year in protest at an election system they say is biased in favour of President Nicolas Maduro’s ruling socialists. The multi-party Democratic Unity coalition has had a tough 2017, first failing to bring down Maduro in four months of protests that led to 125 deaths, then losing surprisingly to the Socialist Party in a gubernatorial election earlier this month. That has left the opposition weakened and divided, and Maduro strengthened, despite growing foreign pressure on his government over alleged rights abuses and corruption, and an unprecedented economic crisis that has millions skipping food. Three heavyweight movements in the opposition - Justice First, Popular Will and Democratic Action - announced on Monday they did not trust the government-leaning election board sufficiently to participate in the munici

Catalonia President hires Lawyer as he moves to Brussels A Belgian lawyer says he has been hired by Carles Puigdemont amid reports the ousted leader may file a claim for political asylum. Catalonia's disputed president has travelled to Brussels after Spain's state prosecutor called for him to face charges of rebellion, sedition and misuse of public funds. On the first working day since his regional government was sacked, Mr Puigdemont and other Catalan leaders were accused of committing offences which carry sentences of up to 30, 15 and six years in prison respectively. Hours later, Mr Puigdemont and five former members of his cabinet reportedly drove to Marseille, where they boarded a flight to the Belgian capital. The development sparked rumours Mr Puigdemont would seek political asylum in Brussels - a prospect that Belgian migration minister Theo Francken described as "not unrealistic" and "100% legal". However, Belgian Prime Minister Cha

Dennis and Lorraine Carver's daughters said her parents discovered a new lease of life after escaping unharmed from the massacre at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival on 1 October. Mr Carver, 52, dived on top of his wife, 53, to shield her from a hail of bullets after Stephen Paddock opened fire on crowds from the nearby Mandalay Bay hotel, killing 59 people. The couple, who had two children, fled to safety during a lull in the gunfire. But they died just weeks later after their car crashed and burst into flames outside their gated community in Riverside County, California. “After the shooting, they heard from all of the people they cared about most.
